|High Top Ranch -
|Male School/Program in for 9-14 year olds.|
We work with boys age 9 to 14 with histories of problems with parents, substance abuse, low or nonexistent self-esteem, learning difficulties, running away, school truancy, and extreme mental stress. Enrollment for High Top Ranch is limited to around 20 students.
Our small enrollment allows us to be rich in experiences while individualizing our services. We deeply believe all young people can learn and do anything they desire. Our comprehensive program of school, therapy, community service, ranch work, and recreation is aimed at helping students find themselves, catch up academically, and experience success.
High Top Ranch is an educational boarding and residential school.
High Top program is year-round. The competency-based curriculum provides all the courses necessary for the student to earn a Utah State high school diploma. Classes are based on a mastery of skills rather than on "seat time"; thus, school features no quarters or semester system.
High Top Ranch is a licensed residential treatment facility that includes drug and alcohol treatment. We are licensed as a mental health and substance-abuse treatment center with the Utah State Human Services Department and are accredited by the Joint Commission of Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations. We are also accredited by the Northwest Association of Schools and Colleges.
High Top Ranch School is located in the beautiful, mountainous Koosharem country of south-central Utah. This ranch is a cattle and horse operation which has been in the Sorenson family for three generations. The nearest town of any note is 35 miles away, giving Koosharem a wonderful sense of serenity and isolation. The location lends itself to unlimited outdoor opportunities.
